The Steamy Hallows Café


For years, I’ve wanted to visit a local oddities parlor, you know, the kind of store that sells taxidermy, antiquated medical equipment, creepy dolls, Gothic jewelry, maybe even a few human skulls. When I heard that The Strange and Unusual OdditiesParlor has added a Harry Potter themed café, I wanted to go even more.

A friend and I made the visit a few weeks ago and were not disappointed. The café part of the shop is very small and has a limited menu, but we didn’t mind at all.  The café is a perfect little nook in the shop and what they do serve seems to be excellent.
We both ordered Butterbeers and thoroughly enjoyed them.  They are a bit like a tastier version of the smoked butterscotch latte Starbucks served a few years ago. Keep in mind that they are not like the cold soda versions from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but are still delicious and very pretty.


The shop itself was amazing, though perhaps not for the faint of heart , as they do display and sell pickled and stuffed (taxidermy) animals.  They also carry bath bombs, which most people enjoy.


The shop and café both feel like you opened a door in Diagon Alley, but this door is open to us Muggles right here in North Eastern Pennsylvania!

            It’s been a very hot week, so hot that you’ve begun to feel lethargic and uncomfortable. You love summer , but this has been a bit much. What to Watch After Stranger Things

         Anyone who’s watched the Netflix original series StrangerThings will find themselves nostalgic for the 1980’s, cassette tapes, arcades, big hair, and the now classic movies that influenced every kid who saw them.           Most of us 80’s and even early 90’s kids longed to find pirate gold, fly our bikes over town, and save the town from evil, yet hilarious witches. Stranger Things brought back all of those childhood adventures and the feeling that while being a kid was hard, it was also amazing, adventurous, and inspiring. The Grand Arrival

  After a year of waiting the gates Mount Hope have swung open for another span of faire days upon the shire. This time  however, we welcomed a new pair of monarchs, King Henry the VIII and Catherine of Aragon.  It was exciting, yelling out "Long Live the King" for the first time, since there's never been a king there as long as I've been attending. As with any new cast the first weekend is a bit stiff, but I'm looking forward to seeing them completely at one with their roles. Also, there's so much to see even without attending the shows, the glittering jewelry shops,  colorful glass ornaments, wooden and steal swords, leather goods and that's just the sights.
