Cozy Village: Sleep Story


Evening is just beginning to settle over the small town you find yourself celebrating springtime in. It’s still warm even as the sun begins to go down. Many of the shops have extended hours and are holding sidewalk sales. It’s the perfect evening for roaming around, enjoying the weather, and exploring the town.  

Several other people have ethe same idea, including some walking dogs, pushing children in strollers, and couples holding hands. Everyone seems friendly, and welcoming, just like the village.  

You pass by a bookstore with displays of gardening books, cozy fantasy, and spring themed cookbooks.  You slip inside, enjoying the warm, inviting aroma. You roam the aisles, enjoying seeing the old favorites and the potential new favorites.  You leave with a new book you cannot wait to read. The cover reminds you of this very village. The shopkeeper told you that it was written by a local author.  

As you walk, a delightful scent catches your attention. You detect hints of cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies, and maybe fresh bread. You can’t quite place what the scent is, maybe all the above, but it is delightful.  

You follow your nose to a small bakery tucked into a corner between a florist and theater announcing auditions for Macbeth. The bakery door is open, welcoming you inside. The bakery has so many delicious treats that it’s hard to narrow down your choices. The owner greets you with a warm smile and offers you some samples, which you gratefully accept. The samples help a little in making a choice, but you want to come back and try more. You take your treats and head to the park to enjoy them.  

You sit on a bench by the fountain and watch a man walking a large, shaggy dog, and a teenager pushing her little brother on a swing. Squirrels chase each other along tree branches. It’s a wonderful, perfect evening and you know you will sleep well later that night.

            It’s been a very hot week, so hot that you’ve begun to feel lethargic and uncomfortable. You love summer , but this has been a bit much. Creating

With so many technological advances it seems like some people are content to simply enjoy what others have created. People play games and watch movies on their phones, even when there out in public and can be getting to know people or enjoying their surroundings. It's not that I don't enjoy playing my Nintendo DS, or watching Law and Order SVU marathons, or even that I don't acknowledge the spring board computers and apps can be to creativity. It was just nice to see a girl a bit younger then myself, sitting at Barnes and Noble, listening to her iPod and knitting away with bright, strawberry red yarn.

beANDenjoy: A Book Subscription Box

            I’ve been intrigued by subscription boxes for some time now. For those who haven’t heard of them, it’s basically a box you get for one month or a series of months.  There’s a variety of boxes you can get delivered to your house, ingredients for meals, craft kits, snacks, geek themed items, just to name a few.             I recently discovered that Etsy carries a selection of subscription boxes. I decided to try a book themed box. After searching through Etsy I found a one month subscription box from beANDenjoy .  One box was only $20, a great deal cheaper than other Etsy shops. I chose just one month.
