Sleep Store : A Not so Spooky Sleep Story

You really need to get more sleep. You know how important it is to all aspects of your health, but you just can’t seem to get enough meaningful sleep. You need some help you realize as you lay in bed. If only there was a store with helpful clerks to help you find what you need to get some rest.

You see the cloud shaped sign gently swaying in the cool night breeze. Sleep Store it reads in whimsical font surrounded by tiny, shimmering stars. The shop windows are shaped like crescent moons. You look inside to see a cozy little shop dotted with comfy armchairs and even some chaise lounge chairs.

Curious, you open the door to be greeted by the scent of fresh lavender and vanilla. You wander over to the nearest arm chair and notice that the table next to it has an inviting cup of chamomile tea and a book of bedtime stories all ready.

“That’s for you,” a kindly voice assures you as an elderly lady walks from behind the main counter. “Having trouble sleeping, dear?”

You admit that is the case as you sip the provided tea. It is the most perfect blend you have ever tasted.

“I have some things that may help,” the shopkeeper says, showing you the section dedicated to calming before bed baths. Scented soaps, bubble baths, bath bombs, all in restful scents, lavender, clary sage, vanilla, and peppermint.

Next are scented candles and nightlights that reflect stars unto the ceiling, as well as light blocking shades and sound machines playing an assortment of soft sounds and music. She also shows you the bookshelves filled with poetry, meditations, and sleep stories to calm a frazzled mind and spirit. Your favorite section ends up all the pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals that remind you of a cozy childhood bedroom.

You make your selections and listen to some good advice about winding down before bed such as no screen time right before and journaling to empty out any stress of the day. Comforted, you head for home, confident that even if you cannot fall asleep immediately, you will at least be rested and ready to accept sleep when it comes.

Sweet dreams
