Treat Yourself Wizarding Style

One of the most welcoming aspects of the wizarding world is the wonderful food. The books are filled with delectable descriptions of candy, main courses, drinks, and even ice cream. Whether the food is served in The Great Hall, the Weasley’s kitchen, or even from the Hogwarts Express trolley, it all sounds amazing. The two Universal theme parks have included the foods of the wizarding world, complete with butterbeer, chocolate frogs, and other treats all fans have dreamed about actually tasting.

Sadly, not all of us can get to Florida or California to sample these magical delights. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t have a taste of Harry’s world.  A great deal of the candy from the trolley or Honeydukes is available for sale in candy stores large and small right here in the Wyoming Valley. Barnes and Noble and Five Below carries Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans and Ballyhoo in West Pittston carries Chocolate Frogs and Jelly Slugs. If you can’t find it locally and can’t use an Accio charm to summon snacks to you, you can use Google to find what shops sell the magical treats.

It’s not just the candy we fans can find locally. Ballyhoo serves up its own version of Butterbeer that is fantastic. If the old fashioned ice cream parlor wasn’t a mix of Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour and Honeydukes, you could imagine that you were in The Three Broomsticks.

If your cup of tea is, well a cup of tea then you can find Harry Potter themed teas on Etsy. TeaHippies, a shop from Canada sells wonderful flavored teas with Harry Potter names. Each Hogwarts house has its own tea. Hufflepuff, my house, has a creamy, orange flavor. You can also get Chocolate Frog and Pumpkin Pastie. The shipping and handling is reasonalbe and the tea arrives in a timely manner.

Another way to sample Harry Potter inspired food is to make it yourself. The Unofficial Harry PotterCookbook has recipes for the trolley treats, main dishes from Petunia, Mrs. Weasley, and Hogwarts, deserts, and even some of the French or Bulgarian food served for the visiting students during the Tri Wizard Tournament.

You can incorporate the dishes into family meals or plan a Harry Potter party. There are numerous types of Harry Potter parties, kid and adult birthdays, tea parties, holiday parties, (Halloween, Christmas) even graduation or engagement parties. Really, any event where there are Harry Potter fans will do.
So, buy or make some magical treats, open the books, or pop in the movies and experience the adventure all over again.
